陳映真是台灣著名的小說家，他的小說從社會主義觀點反映了台灣六十年來的政治經濟發展。本片訪問到眾多當代重要文化人物，包括小說家白先勇、黃春明、美學評論家蔣勳、舞蹈家林懷民等不同世代的代表性人物，探討陳映真的人生理念是如何落實在文字與行動當中，並突顯他在台灣當代文學中不可被忽略的文化旗手位置。
CHEN Yinjen is a prominent novelist in Taiwan, whose works succeed in reflecting the development in Taiwan from the perspective of socialism. This documentary is an attempt to review CHEN’s life, to discuss how his ideals of life are implemented in writing and actions, and to demonstrate how indispensable his role is as a helmsman of the cultural development in Taiwan’s modern literature.
