巴西新電影首航之作，也是多斯山多士的首部電影。全片師法義大利新寫實電影手法，尤其以羅塞里尼的電影風格為師，呈現里約熱內盧在一個攝氏四十度高溫的炎熱夏日，五個賣花生的年輕小販所渡過的一個典型星期天。影片跟著他們的腳步走遍大街小巷，觀眾也跟著他們看盡城市的風光，耳聞里約的音樂與市聲，真正的主角其實正是巴西觀點的里約熱內盧。
This is the first part of a trilogy project followed by Rio Zona Norte, however the third part is never made. A semi-documentary portrays varied facets of Rio de Janeiro, follows the lives and works of five young peanut vendors who work in different favelas surround the city. Various subplots are interlaced, involving the characters they meet along the way.
